Typhoon Koinu

    Currently battering Taiwan

    The southern parts of Taiwan are currently being hit by Typhoon Koinu.

    The storm has:

    ⚠️Brought record gust to Lanyu Island: 174mph.

    ⚠️Sustained winds of 132mph, so is the equivalent of a category 4 hurricane.

    Koinu is expected to slowly weaken as it tracks west towards the southern coast of China.
